Beauty Benefits of Oats

Oatmeal is a healthy whole grain. Usually, it is consumed for breakfast and dinner recipes. But there are much more to be done with this grain. Apart from the health benefits, oatmeal has so many skin benefits. Regular use of oats on skin delivers a soft, smooth, and radiant skin feel. It is an excellent homemade remedy that can be used for cleansing, exfoliation, and for moisturizing the skin. Oats is suitable for all types of skin, especially for sensitive ones. It also balances excess oil or sebum in your skin. It has anti- inflammatory properties that help soothe skin disorders. Oats can be used as a mild cleanse since it contains a cleansing agent saponins, which helps remove dirt and dead skin cells from pores. The anti-inflammatory properties of oats soothe itches and rashes. Soak yourself in a warm oat bath to relieve any kind of itchiness, allergy rashes, psoriasis, eczema, and other skin conditions. Oats has the ability to reduce acne problems. You can make a good face scrub with oats and lemon juice or rose water for acne problems. This helps the exfoliate skin and absorbs excess oil to prevent acne.

Oats – 2 tbsp.

Water – 2 tbsp.

Lemon juice – 2 tsp.

Rose Water – 2 tsp.

For this, you have to soak equal parts of oats in hot water for around 5-10 minutes. Now add some lemon juice and rose water to it. Mix well until smooth and start scrubbing your skin gently. Leave it for 10 minutes.

Dry Skin

Oats is natural moisturizer. It suits for most types of skin and for dry skin you can try oat bath. Mix oats with warm water and add some yogurt or tomatoes to it. This has excellent moisturizing effect on skin.

Cracked heels

The anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties of oats helps a lot to combat cracked heels. Usually, dry skin causes cracked heels and oatmeal solves the problem. Make a foot soak with oatmeal and Epsom salt and get your feet soaked in for an hour. Alternatively, you can mix ground oatmeal with few drops of coconut oil or aloe gel. Apply this paste on your feet in the cracked heel area daily. Leave it for 25-30 minutes and then rinse it off.

Oily scalp

Oats has amazing hair benefits, as well. For this, you can just sprinkle some finely powdered oats on hair as a dry shampoo. Sprinkle on scalp and brush well to get rid of oil/greasy scalp and hair. The powdered oatmeal helps in absorbing excessive oil in scalp.
