Cough is one of the common problem for people of all ages. There are so many ways in which you can treat cough at home with different home remedies. Earlier we had a post on Home Remedies for Cough. But today, we are going to see a different recipe for cough. This is a DIY homemade cough syrup that is easy to do at home.

All the ingredients in this homemade cough syrup recipes are all natural and so does not cause any side effects. Moreover, it is also tasty, cost-effective, and a healthier option when compared to store-bought cough syrups. The taste of the syrup can be adjusted as per the preference and age matter. For children, honey can be left out and sugar can be added. For those with dry cough problems, more honey should be added. You can refrigerate the recipe for certain amount of time and used until the cough subsides. However, always make it fresh and do not keep it for more than a month. Try out this homemade cough syrup at home. 

Homemade Cough Syrup Recipe #1 – Lemon and Honey 

Ingredients

Lemon juice – ¼ cup

Honey – ¼ cup

Food glycerin – ¼ cup

Direction to use

Homemade Cough Syrup Recipe #2 – Ginger and Honey 

Ingredients

Ginger slices – ¼ cup

Lemon – 2

Water – 1 cup

Raw honey – 1 cup

Direction to use
Dosages

For ages 1 to 5 years – ½ to 1 tsp for every 2 hours

For ages 5 to 12 years – 1 to 2 tsp for every 2 hours

For more than 12 years – 1 to 2 tbsp for every four hours

Note:  Do not give these cough syrups to children under age 1, since we have used raw honey. This might cause a rare, but possibly fatal, type of food poisoning.
