Benefits of Olive Oil for Skin and Hair
Everyone knows the benefits of olive oil for cooking. But still, there are other ways olive oil does a great deal of benefit in my beauty regime. Olive oil could be an excellent replacement for many of your chemical-compounded cosmetic products. Using olive oil in the place of commercial products, not only makes your life eco-friendly, it also provides natural health to your skin and hair. Here are few of the benefits of olive oil for skin and hair that can be followed regularly.
As a Moisturizer
Olive oil can be an excellent moisturizer for your skin. Especially during the cold, dry weather, it can provide the best benefits as it contains ample antioxidants that help in fighting off free radicals and reduce the problems of ageing and skin damage. It soaks well into the skin and leaves it greaseless. Also infusing the oil with any aroma oils like lavender oil, rosemary or mint oil can give a subtle fragrance to your skin.
Controls Frizzy Hair
Olive oil has natural minerals and nutrients that provide nourishment to hair. Apart from that it can keep off dry, frizzy hair at bay. However, be careful to use a very small amount of olive oil or else you can end up looking like a greased doll. Just take few drops on hand, and rub it in your palms to spread it. Now apply over the frizzy ends of your strands and comb well.
However, you can also do deep hair treatment with Olive oil. For this, you can take 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and spread it across your dry and damaged hair. Let it soak for overnight (or 30-45 mins before hair wash, if you do not want mess up your bedtime) and rinse off with shampoo in the morning.
Treating Acne
This may sound weird but still applying olive oil can treat acnes to some extent. Since it’s a natural remedy, why not give it a try?
Mix 3 tablespoon of olive oil and 4 tablespoon of salt to a paste. Apply it on your face and rinse with warm soap water after few minutes. Apply it daily for the first week and then alternate days for the second week, afterwards twice a week. Once you follow this routine, you will surely reap the benefits.
Alternative to Shaving Creams
Olive Oil can be an excellent alternative to shaving creams. Instead of using any cosmetic for your sensitive parts, just spread few drops of olive oil before and after shave. It helps your razor to glide smoothly.
Never underestimate the benefits of olive oil for skin and hair. Give it a try and let us know in the comments.
