Home Remedies for Fatigue and Exhaustion
Most of us find exhausted or overworked at one time or another. Such a fatigue can happen from time to time because of our busy lifestyle, poor food habits, and lack of physical wellness. Being fatigue is more than just sleepiness. It affects your physical and mental well-being to the most. Fatigue could be a symptom for several medical conditions such as depression, low blood sugar, or physical weakness. Once addressed earlier, you can get rid of the bodily exhaustion. There are several ways you can handle fatigue or exhaustion. Changes to food habits and lifestyle with home remedies can fight the feeling of fatigue effectively.
Potato Water
A glass of freshly prepared potato water can relax you on a hot summer day. It is actually a good home remedy for body fatigue.
Just soak few slices of unpeeled potato in 8 ounces of hot water. Leave it to steep overnight in refrigerator. Drink this solution in the morning.
The potassium in potatoes helps to feel less tired and sluggish. It also replenishes the essential minerals for the body. Potassium along with magnesium or calcium acts as an electrolyte for the body. It helps in proper functioning of the body cells, releasing required energy.
Lemon water
Squeeze a half part of fresh lemon/lime in a glass of water. You can enjoy the drink warm or chilled. You can drink this lemonade twice or thrice a day.
Dandelion/Nettle Tea
Iron is an important source of energy for body’s red-blood cells. Moreover, lack of oxygen also leads to improper functioning of the body system. Nettle is rich is iron and helps body’s absorption of oxygen. Also, nettle has enough vitamin C to give energy and facilitates absorption of non-heme iron in the body. Dandelion helps in boosting the body’s iron content. Since the tea will be quite bitter, you can add honey to it.
Dried Dandelion – 1 tsp.
Dried Nettle – 1 tsp.
Water – 1 cup
Honey – as required
Directions
Boil the water and pour it into the mug with the herbs. Cover and let it steep for around 10 minutes. Now strain the herbs and add plenty of honey to taste better. You can drink this tea twice a day.
Licorice Tea
Licorice roots are great for combating fatigue. The presence of glycyrrhizin helps in boosting adrenal functioning and cortisol levels in the body.
Dried Licorice root – 1 tbsp.
Water – 1 cup
Honey/lemon – to taste
Directions
Take some boiling water and let the dried licorice roots steep in it covered, for around 10-15 minutes. Strain the mixture and add honey or lemon as required.
Spinach
Spinach is rich in iron and provides enough energy for the body. It also fights anemia and improves muscle strength. With high magnesium content, spinach can be eaten raw or cooked.
Magnesium-rich Foods
Consume more of magnesium rich foods such as dark leafy greens, fish, whole grains, nuts, and bananas to relieve from fatigue. It improves energy production and protein synthesis in the body.

- Take a good nap, whenever possible.
- Try yoga for getting relief from physical as well as mental tiredness. Breathing exercises provide calmness to mind and body. Specific asanas increase body flexibility and fight fatigue.
- Have an active lifestyle with walking, and mild physical activities.
