Fruits are sweet snacks to eat. However, more than eating, sometimes, fruits can be beneficial in other ways. The nutritional value of a fruit is equally and sometimes more present in its peels and other parts that we throw off or do not eat. For instance, peels of banana, seeds and peels of pomegranate, skin of citrus fruits, and rinds of veggies make amazing uses for health and household uses. Here are few interesting ways in which you can use fruits and its parts.

Banana peels for Psoriasis

We often trash off the peel of a banana after eating the fruit. However there are ways in which we can use it.  Banana peels are effective in treating psoriasis. All you need to do is rub some inner peel pieces of banana peel on the places where Psoriasis or dry scalp occur. This will help in curing psoriasis effectively.

Banana peels can also be used for adding shine to your household items. It is also an excellent fertilizer for your garden.

Apples for ripening

Apples are said to leave off a gas called ethylene, which accelerates the ripening of fruits. So if you have unripe fruits on your stack, adding 2-3 apples to the same stack can help them ripen faster. Now you know the reason why keeping apples along with other ripened fruits can spoil them faster than usual.

The presence of pectin in apples can be used for skin care as it reduces skin inflammation and wrinkles.

Papaya Skins for Foot Rub

You can use the papaya skin to pedicure. This skin has vitamin A and papain, a compound that removes dead skins by breaking down inactive proteins. Just take papaya skin and rub it on your foot while doing home pedicure. Realize the amazing results.

Citrus Rinds for polishing Metals

You can use the rinds of citrus fruits like lemon and oranges for polishing your metal surfaces. The citrus acid present in these fruits help in turning your surface polished. Additionally, you can also sprinkle a pinch of baking soda to boost up the polishing process.

Potato peels for dark hair

Those who are worried of grey hair or lightened hair, here is an excellent remedy. Potato peels can be used to darken your hair strands. For this, you have to boil potato peels in water for around 30 minutes. Strain the peels off and rinse your hair with this water after shampooing. Regular use of this will darken your hair gradually.

Fruit peels for Potpourri

You can use dried citrus peels, pomegranate peels, apple skin, and also any good smelling peels for homemade potpourri. You can make small bags out of it and keep it in glass dishes for making your home smell good.

Peanut shells for Grilling

Instead of throwing away the shells of peanuts, you can use it as a substitute for charcoal while grilling. They absorb good amount of heat and does not burn easily.
