When you have the first sign of indigestion, try out these indigestion home remedies. These foods can help you get fast relief.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is acidic in nature. It also gives alkalizing effect to neutralize the digestive juices. This helps to settle indigestion.

Mix one tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar to a cup of warm water. Add honey and drink this mixture twice or thrice a day to get quick relief.

Ginger

Ginger is an effective home remedy for indigestion caused by overeating. It helps in stimulating digestive juices in the stomach. This allows flow of enzymes and digests your food without struggle.

Take fresh ginger slices and sprinkle some salt on it. Chew these slices after having a heavy meal.

Chamomile Tea

Mix 1 tsp. of roasted cumin seeds powder in a glass of warm or normal water and drink it.

Alternatively, you can also add ¼ tsp. of roasted cumin seed powder and black pepper powder to a glass of buttermilk. Drink it twice or thrice a day.

You can also use coriander seeds or fennel seeds as an alternative. They are effective too.

Basil leaves

Basil is one of the excellent indigestion home remedies. In Ayurvedic medicine, it is used to treat indigestion and acidity or acid reflux. It also helps in relieving intestinal gas problems and ulcer, because of its carminative properties.

Take 1 tsp. of dried basil leaves to a cup of hot water. Let it steep for 10 mins. You can drink up to 3 cups of basil tea a day.

Alternatively, here is a small recipe.

Fresh basil leaves – 5-6

Sea salt – ¼ tsp.

Black pepper powder – a pinch

Plain yoghurt – 2-3 tbsp.

Directions:

Grind the fresh basil leaves and mix it with sea salt and black pepper powder. Add all the three to the plain yogurt and consume it twice or thrice a day.
